Edinburgh East stretches from the trendy area of Leith in the north down to family-friendly suburbs such as Newcraighall and Niddrie in the south. To the west it shares a boundary with Edinburgh South, Edinburgh North, and Edinburgh City Centre. While to the east, the majority of Edinburgh East enjoys a coastline that looks out on to the North Sea and the southern suburbs share a boundary with the stunning area of East Lothian. It's a great location for people who love the city buzz, but also like having the option to visit the beach or easily escape to East Lothian or the Scottish Borders. 

As for education, Edinburgh East is home to Edinburgh College which is located near Brunstane train station for easy access from other areas.

Edinburgh East's star attraction is Portobello Beach. Offering two-miles of sandy beach backed by a promenade, this award-winning beach is popular with locals and hosts regular events in the summer. Nearby you'll also find The Portobello Kayaking and Sailing Club, Portobello Swim Centre, a choice of several bars and cafés on the promenade and a market in Brighton Park on the first Saturday of every month. 

Fans of Hibernian F.C. will love living in Edinburgh East with its easy access to the club's stadium in Easter Road. The stadium also occasionally hosts concerts and other events.  

When it comes to shopping, Ocean Terminal in Leith is a very popular and stylish shopping centre filled with retail, leisure and dining options overlooking the Firth of Forth. When you're finished shopping, you can then enjoy Leith's other attractions including the Leith Theatre, The Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, and The Water of Leith Walkway. 

Another big shopping destination in Edinburgh East is Fort Kinnaird in Newcraighall. As well as being home to 70 shops, you'll also find a generous selection of restaurants as well as a cinema and a gym.
