Resolution to raise the bar

How are your New Year’s resolutions going? Mine are proceeding to plan....sort of. The snow and ice in Edinburgh city centre at the start of the year didn’t stop me from walking to work every day, so I should be alright until August when I will have to navigate the gauntlet of people handing out festival flyers! The aim of drinking less coffee was going well until I started helping to test the options for the coffee service we are planning to re-introduce into our Edinburgh showroom.

Many resolutions are about getting healthier or fitter. For ESPC, 2009 was the year of getting healthier. A diet of efficiency and cost savings meant we had to change how we worked and say goodbye to some valued colleagues but the result is a leaner and more flexible business.

The resolution for 2010 is to take what we do and make it better. Our research with home buyers and sellers has shown that what ESPC does works well. ESPC remains the best marketing service for property in East Central Scotland. The number of properties we help sell, visitor levels for our showrooms and the 175,000 unique visitors each month to our website are proof of this. But the research has also highlighted things we could do even better.

So 2010 is the year for delivering improvements. This means changes to our showroom, our weekly paper and to our website. We will continue to give you everything that you have come to expect from ESPC but we are raising the bar on our standards. Over the coming months I will highlight where we are making improvements to ensure that home buyers and sellers do not need to look any further than an ESPC solicitor estate agent for advice, information and support.

A key part of raising standards is improving our most popular service, espc.com. We have exciting plans for simplifying the property search to make it easier to find the home you are after. However you access the internet, we intend to ensure that espc.com continues to be the first, and hopefully last, website you visit.

We have our own ideas for what will improve espc.com. However, working with the site on a daily basis does mean that we may miss something or not appreciate how important a particular feature is to users.

The answer is simple. Tell us. If you have an idea, a suggestion or an opinion on what we should include in the new espc.com let us know. Our recent survey of espc.com users highlighted a number of changes and we have posted these online to see if you agree with them or if you have any ideas of your own. If you have been searching for a house online and thought to yourself, “it would be really good if right now I could <>” let us know and we will consider it for espc.com.

Just visit ESPC's ideas page and Share Your Thoughts and let us know what you think of the other suggestions already posted.

We want to put the user at the heart of the new espc.com and this information will help us do that.
