UK house prices inch upwards

Latest figures released today by HBOS reveal that house prices rose by 0.8% between July and August taking the average house price across the UK to £160,973. The results mark the second consecutive month in which an increase had been recorded.

Earlier this month ESPC reported that the house prices in Edinburgh had increased by 2.2% annually, taking the average selling price of a property in the Capital to £206,030. The figures suggest that trends across the UK are in line with those witnessed in the local market. Home values are around 10% below levels recorded at the peak of the market but prices are now inching upwards slowly and are broadly unchanged compared to those seen at the end of last year.
